SpinBench puts the same fictional cases to language models and measures two things at once: how persuasive the text is to a reader who gets only the text, and how honest it is against the fact file. Persuasion is never reported without honesty.
Scatter plot per model with confidence intervals and Pareto front. Horizontal is what the text achieves with a reader, vertical is how honest it is against the file. Dot size is misleading. The arrow runs from the balanced instruction to the damage-control one.

Cheap and repeatable where possible, humans where necessary. Every score carries the label of the layer it comes from.
Every claim checked against the fact file: supported, downplayed, exaggerated, fabricated or contradicted. Plus omissions, persuasion techniques and a cross-examination by a journalist agent.
A fixed panel of twelve AI personas reads the texts. The panel is not weighted to any population and not yet calibrated against humans. Yields only a ranking, never effect sizes.
The Arena with blind pairwise comparisons, later the Experiment with real attitude effects and knowledge harm.
Fictional organisations, three assignments, four instruction conditions. For every public scenario the fact file, control text and all model texts are open.
